Winter nights are perfect for storytelling

Winter in Belfast is cold, wet and dark. Most people hibernate and try their best to complete Netflix. This is when I thrive taking photos.

When is the best time of the day to take photos? That depends on a lot of factors. Are you capturing people? Do you want to capture a particular mood? What sort of story do you want to tell? Some photographers only shoot in natural lighting during the day, and this can really suit wedding photos and family portraits.

My photos tell stories, and for me, these stories are best told at night.

This is a selection of photos captured throughout winter 2024 in Belfast. All photos were captured using my Sony A7IV and 85mm Sigma f/1.4 DG DN Art lens.
